Briggs Communications Services

History and Background

Gary Briggs established Briggs Communications Services to consult in the area of public safety communications, emergency communications operations, voice and data communications networks.

In 1979, Gary was commissioned and assumed the rank of Inspector. At this time, he was Manager of Data Network Control at Ottawa Headquarters. In 1980, he became the Officer in Charge of Network Services. Gary was responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and the RCMP Data System.

From 1985 until his retirement, Gary was the Officer in Charge of Communications Services at "E" Division, British Columbia. In this position, he was responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of RCMP radio systems throughout BC as well as police communication centres, telephone and wireless systems.
